MISS TODD Student Academy Award Winner
"Miss Todd" is the story of one young woman who dreams of flight in 1909, just as the whole of mankind is learning how to fly. Her passion is tireless, but in this era, she has more than gravity holding her down. The story is inspired by the real historical figure of Miss E. Lilian Todd, who is credited by the New York Times as the first woman in the world to build and design an airplane.
"Miss Todd" is a stop-motion, musical, short animation using (upright) paper cut-out puppets in a model set. The film was made entirely without the use of green screen, and with the exception of some rig and wire removal, all effects were achieved in-camera.
On June 8, 2013, "Miss Todd" won the GOLD MEDAL in the Foreign Film Category at the STUDENT ACADEMY AWARDS. It is the first animated film in the history of the awards to win in this category. It has been adapted into a children's book which became available June 1st, 2015.
